So you want to be a writer?

Vanilla has written the very thing you should read on her Absolute Vanilla (& Atyllah) blog ... if you want to be a novelist, that is. She calls it A Novel Update, and it should frighten off the timid.

When you've read her account of what it takes to do the job, you should read what The Times says in the online article A novel idea may not be lucrative. If you are still with us after that, you may ... maybe, perhaps, and having been warned ... become a writer yet.

And this is just the beginning! After that comes negotiating of contracts, more editing, proofing, more editing, approvals, and then, only then does the very hard work of promotion start because yep, writers end up doing a lot of their own promotion. Now what was that about wanting to be a writer?
;-)

Thanks for the link, Bonnie!

I *LOVE* that photo... it's wonderful!

As to being a printed, real honest to goodness bona fide writer... published and everything...

well, here's lookin at you kid.
Let's do it!
If we let the barriers hold us back, we'd have nothing new that's good to read.

Hi Bonnie, Amy fromMediterranean Views here. Is it too late to answer your "computer in Spanish" question? I've been away (mostly mentally) for awhile and just saw your question. In Spain they are called ordenadores. In many Latin American (if not all?) countries they are called computadores - especially in those influenced by the Spanglsih of the US latino community. Hope that helps. Hope to be adding some new posts soon. lots of material in mind, just not lots of time now.
